Mini-transverse incision using a novel bush-hook versus conventional open incision for treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome: a prospective study
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Jul 25, 2021
Ma T, Wang D, Hu Y, et al. - The present study was performed to explore the outcomes of a mini-transverse incision with a bush-hook versus a conventional open incision for carpal tunnel release (CTR). Researchers designed a prospective study. They assessed Patients’ symptom severity, functional status, and symptomatic pain at pre-operation, 1 month, and 3 and 6 months postoperatively, and any relevant complications were recorded. They used Kelly’s scale to assess the overall clinical efficacy. The study enrolled a total of 89 individuals in the open CTR group and 85 patients in the mini-transverse incision group. According to the findings, the mini-transverse incision demonstrated better performance in surgery-related measures, symptomatic remission, functional recovery, and postoperative morbidity therefore could be considered a promising technique alternative.
