Methods for segmentation of rheumatoid arthritis bone erosions in high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT)

Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism Sep 28, 2017

Figueiredo CP, et al. - The comparison between different techniques to measure the 3-dimensional size of inflammatory bone erosions in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients is assessed in this study. In RA patients, Medical Image Analysis Framework (MIAF) and modified Evaluation Script for Erosions (mESE) allow precise segmentation of inflammatory bone erosions. They permit estimating the erosion volume independent of erosion shape and therefore provide an attractive tool to measure the structural damage in individual joints of RA patients.
