Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus has greater risk of transmission in the operating room than methicillin-sensitive S aureus

American Journal of Infection Control Jan 10, 2018

Loftus RW, et al. - Researchers performed the comparison of intraoperative transmissibility of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) vs methicillin-sensitive S aureus (MSSA) isolates. In this work, increased risk of intraoperative transmission was observed with MRSA isolates. The impact of the attenuation of intraoperative MRSA transmission on the incidence of invasive MRSA infections needed to be assessed in future work.
