Metabolomics and cognition in African American adults in midlife: The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities study

Bressler J, et al. – The current study was expected to explore whether metabolites measured in serum in middle–aged African American adults were associated with cognitive function and cognitive change in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study. The outcomes suggested that screening the metabolome in midlife could detect biologically plausible biomarkers that might improve risk stratification for cognitive impairment at older ages.
