Metabolic syndrome and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol are associated with adverse pathological features in patients with prostate cancer treated by radical prostatectomy

Lebdai S, et al. - The correlation between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and prostate cancer (PCa) aggressiveness in patients who undergo radical prostatectomy (RP) was determined. MetS was an independent predictor for higher International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) group and positive margins at RP. Additionally, low HDL-cholesterol alone, and the presence of 4 and more MetS components, were related to a higher risk of adverse pathologic features.
