Metabolic acidosis in the initial 6 months after renal transplantation: A prospective study
Nephrology Jul 28, 2021
George K, Upadhyay AD, Subbiah AK, et al. - Researchers investigated the incidence as well as risk factors of metabolic acidosis (MA) in the first 6 months post-renal transplantation, in this single centre prospective study. They analyzed 125 patients, and MA occurred in 89 (71.2%) of these. In 72 patients, MA occurred in the 1st month after transplantation, and it occurred during the 2-3 months and between 4-6 months post-transplantation in 11 and in 6 patients, respectively. Findings showed that MA incidence in the initial 6 months post-transplant was high in this study population. The identified independent risk factors included serum creatinine and high tacrolimus C0 levels.
