Meta-analysis comparing torsemide vs furosemide in patients with heart failure
The American Journal of Cardiology Nov 08, 2019
Abraham B, Megaly M, Sous M, et al. - Researchers examined the clinical outcomes of torsemide vs furosemide in cases of heart failure by analyzing data from relevant published studies in a systematic review and meta-analysis. They analyzed 19 studies in total, including 9 randomized control trials and 10 observational studies, in which torsemide and furosemide use was compared in heart failure patients. Overall, 19,280 patients were included. The mean follow-up duration was 15 months. According to findings, significant more improvement in functional status and lower cardiac mortality, as well as numerically fewer hospitalizations, were observed in relation to treatment with torsemide compared with furosemide use in patients with heart failure.
