Maternal HBsAg carriers and adverse pregnancy outcomes: A hospital-based prospective cohort analysis
Journal of Viral Hepatitis Jun 20, 2019
Cai Q, et al. - In order to assess the impact of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection during pregnancy on the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes for both mothers and neonates, researchers conducted a hospital-based prospective cohort study on pregnant women using an analysis strategy guided by directed acyclic graphs. They analyzed 3,329 pregnant women, including 346 hepatitis B surface antigen carriers, who received routine antenatal care in a hospital setting at baseline. Outcomes suggest an increased risk of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, premature rupture of membranes and large for gestational age pregnancies in correlation to chronic HBV infection during pregnancy.
