Maternal cardiac arrest: A retrospective analysis
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Dec 16, 2020
He F, Li RR, Liu PS, et al. - Via performing retrospective analysis of the clinical data of a total of 61 maternal cardiac arrest (MCA) patients admitted or transferred to The Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, researchers sought to delineate the characteristics and factors which may affect the maternal outcomes of MCA. Death was reported for 36 of the analyzed patients (mortality 59.0%, 95% CI 46.3–71.7%). Findings overall suggest that the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes can be reduced with regular antenatal examination and early intervention. Maternal prognosis may correlate with the location of MCA occurrence. Postpartum hemorrhage and amniotic fluid embolism were reported to be the leading causes of MCA.
