Maternal and neonatal outcomes following abnormally invasive placenta: A population-based record linkage study
Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica Aug 18, 2017
Baldwin HJ, et al. – This study uses population–level information gathered more than ten years to research maternal and neonatal outcomes and trends in incidence of AIP (also known as placenta accreta, increta and percreta). Abnormally invasive placenta substantially increases the risk of severe adverse outcomes for mothers and babies, and incidence is increasing. Delivery should occur in tertiary hospitals equipped with neonatal intensive care units. Clinicians ought to be cognizant of the risks, especially to infants, and maintain a high index of suspicion of AIP, including in primiparae.
