Manifestation of meibomian gland dysfunction in patients with Sjögren’s syndrome, non-Sjögren’s dry eye, and non-dry eye controls

Kang YS, et al. - Researchers assessed the manifestation of meibomian gland dysfunction in patients with Sjogren’s syndrome (SS), non-Sjogren’s syndrome dry eye (non-SS) patients, and non-dry eye controls. Greater impairment in meibomian gland function was exhibited by the patients in both SS and non-SS groups vs the non-dry eye controls. Compared to the non-SS patients, meibomian gland dysfunction was more severe with poorer mean meiboscore and meibomian gland expressibility in the SS patients.
