Management of latent tuberculosis infection among healthcare workers: 10-year experience at a single center
Clinical Infectious Diseases Dec 04, 2017
Perez EA, et al. - A retrospective single-center review of Employee Health and Wellness Services records of all healthcare workers (HCWs) diagnosed with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) was conducted to assess the management of latent tuberculosis infection among HCWs. Researchers observed more frequent completion of rifampin (RIF) and rifapentine/isoniazid (RPT/INH) for LTBI in an HCW population than isoniazid (INH). Among those taking RPT/INH, rates of discontinuation due to side effects were lower. They recommended considering shorter LTBI treatment regimens more widely for HCWs in the United States.
