Malocclusion in children and adolescents with Down syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Doriguetto PVT, et al. - Data from 7 electronic databases were estimated using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, to analyze the impact of malocclusion among children/adolescents with Down syndrome (DS) vs those without DS. Researchers observed a higher prevalence of malocclusion in kids with DS. They also noted the prevalence for Angle Class III, posterior crossbite, anterior crossbite, and anterior open bite. Although, the strength of the relationship between DS and malocclusion was considered moderate and low.
