Longitudinal recovery patterns of penile length and the underexplored benefit of long-term phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor use after radical prostatectomy
BMC Urology May 17, 2018
Kwon YS, et al. - Experts ascertained the longitudinal patterns of penile length (PL) recovery and assessed the factors predicting a complete return to baseline PL. Results suggested an association of age, preoperative erectile function (EF), and consistent use of PDE5i with complete recovery of baseline PL after radical prostatectomy (RP). As per data, younger age, high preoperative erectile function (EF), and consistent PDE5i use were independent predictors of CR. At the 12-month visit, the therapeutic effect of PDE5i was most pronounced, thereby suggesting an added benefit with long-term use.
