Longitudinal change in parent and child functioning after internet-delivered cognitive-behavioral therapy for chronic pain

Pain Oct 27, 2017

Law EF, et al. - The present study aimed to assess longitudinal relationships between parent and child functioning among families of youth with chronic pain receiving a standardized family-based cognitive-behavioral interventions program for pain management delivered through the Internet (I-CBT). Findings suggest that parent distress can increase the risk of poor response to psychological pain treatment among youth with chronic pain. Presently, in psychological interventions for pediatric chronic pain, parent distress is not routinely targeted. An investigation regarding optimal strategies is required for targeting parent and family factors in the treatment of pediatric chronic pain.
