Longitudinal association between ideal cardiovascular health status and muscular fitness in adolescents: The LabMed Physical Activity Study
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Jun 06, 2018
Agostinis-Sobrinho C, et al. - In study cohort of 331 adolescents (183 girls) from the LabMed Physical Activity Study (followed from 2011 to 2013), researchers determined the longitudinal association between ideal cardiovascular health index and muscular fitness. Findings suggest a positive association of ideal cardiovascular health status at baseline with muscular fitness two years later. They noted a higher accumulation of ideal cardiovascular health metrics at baseline to be associated with a higher likelihood of having high muscular fitness at follow-up. Results thus suggest preventive efforts to focus on those with few ideal health behaviors.
