Long-term stability of root coverage procedures for single gingival recessions: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Clinical Periodontology Apr 19, 2019
Dai A, et al. - Investigators researched 15 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in this study to estimate the long-term (≥ 2 years) stability of root coverage procedures for single gingival recessions. Significantly higher mean root coverage (MRC) in short-term was noted as compared to long-term after coronally advanced flap (CAF) (7.29%). They did not record any significant difference in CRC or MRC for short-term vs long-term (1.00; 2.35%) when CAF was combined with connective tissue graft (CTG) which resulted in better long-term efficacy as compared to CAF alone in terms of CRC (0.69) and KTW (-0.63mm). A decreased postoperative percentage of root coverage with time seemed to be the consequence of CAF alone.
