Long-term safety and efficacy of acotiamide in functional dyspepsia (postprandial distress syndrome)-Results from the European phase 3 open-label safety trial

Neurogastroenterology & Motility Jan 11, 2018

Tack J, et al. - Here, the researchers evaluated the long-term safety of acotiamide in functional dyspepsia (FD). Moreover, they aimed to investigate the efficacy of acotiamide on postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) symptoms using the validated LPDS, quality of life using SF-36 and SF-NDI, and work productivity using WPAI. They confirmed the long-term safety of acotiamide treatment. They suggested a clinically important change for PDS symptoms, QoL, and work productivity. However, to confirm this hypothetic efficacy of acotiamide, a controlled trial was required.
