Long-term prognostic value of combined free triiodothyronine and late gadolinium enhancement in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

Zhang K, et al. - Herein, a hypothesis was tested that the combination of thyroid hormone (TH) and myocardial fibrosis (detected by late gadolinium enhancement [LGE]) is an independent and incremental predictor of adverse events in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). In patients with DCM, a more accurate predictive value was afforded by the combination of FT3 and LGE as far as the long-term prognosis was concerned. This may improve patient selection for intensive interventions.
