Long-term prognosis after myectomy in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular hypertrophy

An S, et al. - Herein, researchers investigated if the incidence of sudden cardiac death (SCD) post-myectomy was lower in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) patients with severe hypertrophy. They found that among HOCM patients with severe hypertrophy, the reported risk of cardiovascular death and SCD was lower among those who underwent myectomy vs those treated with medicines only.
