Long-term outcomes of ultra-short metaphyseal fitting anatomic cementless femoral stem in total hip arthroplasty with ceramic-on-ceramic articulation for young patients
Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 27, 2019
Kim YH, et al. - The long-term results of the ultra-short metaphyseal fitting anatomic cementless femoral stem were estimated in subjects younger than 50 years old, with respect to clinical and radiographic outcomes, survivorship and complication rate among 239 candidates (324 hips). The mean Harris hip score, WOMAC score, and UCLA activity score were reported at the latest follow-up with 93 points, 13 points, and 7 points, respectively. Moderate thigh pain was noted in 1.3% of cases only. At the time of the advanced follow-up, all of the acetabular components and 99% femoral stems were solidly fixed. They did not observe ceramic fracture or osteolysis in any hip at the time of the final follow-up. They recorded the survival rate of the femoral component, 99.1% whereas that of the acetabular component was 100% at 15.6 years.
