Long-term continence outcomes in men undergoing radical prostatectomy: A prospective 15 year longitudinal study
The Journal of Urology May 15, 2018
Xu AJ, et al. - Authors evaluated the time-dependent rates of urinary continence (UC) after open retropubic radical prostatectomy (ORRP). For the entire cohort, they observed a significant decrease in urinary continence (UC) rates between baseline to 2 years and 2 to 15 years for the entire cohort. In the general population, comparability of UC rates for age-matched men followed longitudinally for 15 years to the study population was noted, thereby, suggesting that while primarily sphincteric urinary incontinence was caused by ORRP, it could be protective for subsequent BPH mediated urinary incontinence.
