Lipid profile and long-term outcome in premature myocardial infarction
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Aug 03, 2018
Winter MP, et al. - In patients with premature myocardial infarction, researchers examined the prognostic value of different lipid fractions on long-term cardiovascular outcomes. Participants in the study were 102 consecutive AMI survivors (≤ 40 years) examined for the influence of the familial combined hypercholesterolemia phenotype and a corresponding multimarker panel of different lipid fractions on cardiovascular outcome. In patients with premature myocardial infarction, non-HDL and remnant cholesterol were strongly correlated with an unfavorable outcome and could be the favored target for lipid-lowering therapy. It was noted that remnant cholesterol had the strongest relationship with MACE.
