Level of invasion into fibromuscular band is an independent factor for positive surgical margin and biochemical recurrence in men with organ-confined prostate cancer
BMC Urology Feb 17, 2018
Kim A, et al. - Patients with organ-confined (pT2) prostate cancer were evaluated. The impact of the level of invasion into a fibromuscular band (FMB) of the prostate on the positive surgical margin (PSM) and biochemical recurrence (BCR) following radical prostatectomy (RP) were determined. Data indicated that the surgical Gleason score and level of FMB independently influenced the incidence of a BCR of pT2 prostate cancer in subjects with negative surgical margins. The FMB level was noted to be an independent predictor of both a positive surgical margin and a BCR of pT2 disease.
