Left ventricular strain in chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-naïve cancer patients
Canadian Journal of Cardiology Dec 05, 2017
Tadic M, et al. - This study entails an assessment of left ventricular (LV) function and mechanics in chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-naïve cancer patients. Furthermore, the link between cancer and reduced LV multidirectional strain was investigated in the whole study population. Even prior to initiation of chemo- and radiotherapy, cancer patients vs controls exhibited impaired LV mechanics. Data also reported that independent of other clinical parameters, an association of cancer and hypertension with attenuated LV multidirectional strain was observed. As per observations, cancer itself potentially induced cardiac remodeling independently of chemo- and radiotherapy.
