Lactation duration and progression to diabetes in women across the childbearing years: The 30-year CARDIA study

JAMA Internal Medicine Jan 19, 2018

Gunderson EP, et al. - Herein, authors probed into the correlation between lactation and progression to diabetes in women across the childbearing ages, with the aid of biochemical testing both before and after pregnancy, taking into account the prepregnancy cardiometabolic measures, gestational diabetes (GD), and lifestyle behaviors. This community-based cohort study demonstrated an independent link between lactation duration with a lower incidence of diabetes. No variations were noted in terms of race, gestational diabetes (GD) or parity.
