International Journal of General Medicine Jun 26, 2021

Chen Y, Du Y, Sun C, et al. - This retrospective cohort study was performed to determine the predictive value of lactate for prognosis among critically ill patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD). Data obtained from a freely accessible critical care database (MIMIC-III) were used. All AUD cases for whom lactate was available were included. Researchers analyzed 1296 eligible critically ill patients with AUD; 223 were non-survivors (17.2%). Findings showed elevated mortality in relation to high lactate among critically ill patients suffering from AUD.
