Laboratory markers of cardiac and metabolic complications after generalized tonic-clonic seizures

Nass RD, et al. - Experts aspired to evaluate the nature and frequency of complications occurring in association with generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS). After emergency admissions, troponin elevations in association with GTCS were one of the more common complications, particularly in older patients. Serious complications like intracranial hemorrhage, myocardial infarction, and acute renal failure occurred in <1% of GTCS only, in this selected patient population.
