L1CAM expression in uterine carcinosarcoma is limited to the epithelial component and may be involved in epithelial–mesenchymal transition
Virchows Archiv Aug 29, 2018
Versluis MAC, et al. - For this investigation, researchers assessed L1CAM (a possible marker for a mesenchymal phenotype is L1 cell adhesion molecule) expression in a large cohort of 90 uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS) subjects assembled in 4 oncologic centers taking an interest in the European Network for Individualized Treatment of Endometrial Cancer (ENITEC) collaboration. Findings revealed that the expression of L1CAM did not relate to overall or disease-free survival. Results of this study suggested that L1CAM could be involved in the development of UCS and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) at an early stage, however, is not a marker for the mesenchymal phenotype.
