Klotho G-395A gene polymorphism: Impact on progression of end-stage renal disease and development of cardiovascular complications in children on dialysis
Pediatric Nephrology Jan 12, 2018
Elghoroury EA, et al. - An investigation was performed assessing the significance of Klotho G-395-A on end-stage renal disease (ESRD) development and progression, and its relationship with evolution of cardiovascular complications in pediatric dialysis patients. Among children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and those with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), a significantly higher frequency of the A allele of the G-395A Klotho gene polymorphism was observed. This mutant allele, in these children, could be utilized as a risk marker for the development of ESRD as well as a predictor of CVD.
