KLF4 expression in the surgical cut margin is associated with disease relapse of oral squamous cell carcinoma

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology May 15, 2019

Roy S, et al. - In this study, researchers examined 102 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) for the role of octamer-binding transcription factor 4 (OCT4) and Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) in the disease progression and relapse. As per Kaplan-Meier and COX regression analyses, there was an independent association of increased expression of KLF4 in the cut margin region of recurrent patients with a poor prognosis. Findings suggest the utility of expression of KLF4 for monitoring disease progression and its prognostic value to predict recurrence.
