International Urology and Nephrology Oct 20, 2017

Ruiz M, et al. - This study intended to describe the 26-year experience with kidney autotransplantation (KAT) at a single institution, primarily reporting indications, surgical technique, complications and long-term outcomes of the procedure. As per observations, with good long terms outcomes, KAT represents an effective treatment for complex ureteral lesions and kidney vascular abnormalities. Though frequent but minor surgical complications were reported. Experienced kidney transplant surgeons should perform this surgery given the challenges associated with it. Nowadays, the main indication of this procedure is complex and proximal ureteral injuries.
