Intravescical prostatic protrusion is a predictor of alpha blockers response: Results from an observational study
BMC Urology Feb 17, 2018
Topazio L, et al. - The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of tamsulosin in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and benign prostatic enlargement (BPE) with an intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP). In patients with LUTS and BPE under alpha-blocker therapy, intravesical prostatic protrusion was found to be notably and inversely related to the treatment success. In patients with low-grade IPP, the alpha blockers odd ratio of success was 59 times higher compared to patients with a high-grade IPP.
