Meyring-Wosten A, et al. - Researchers, herein, tested the validity of a hypothesis that peridialytic systolic blood pressure (SBP) change is associated with arterial oxygen saturation (SaO₂). In chronic hemodialysis (HD) patients, it was noted that intradialytic SaO₂ and the blood pressure response to HD were inversely associated. The presumption that possibly via sympathetic activation and endothelin-1 secretion, hypoxemia activates mechanisms that partially blunt the intradialytic blood pressure decline, was supported based on the findings.
