Intradetrusor injections of botulinum toxin A in adult patients with spinal dysraphism
The Journal of Urology May 14, 2018
Peyronnet B, et al. - Researchers presented the outcomes of botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) intradetrusor injections in adult patients with spina bifida.
They retrospectively included all patients with spinal dysraphism who underwent intradetrusor injections of BTX-A from 2002 to 2016 in 14 centres. The effectiveness of intradetrusor BTX-A injections was noted in adult spina bifida patients suggesting detrusor overactivity. On the contrary, in adult spina bifida patients with poor bladder compliance, the effectiveness was much lower. Female gender and older age were the other predictors of global success.
