Interaction between visual acuity and peripheral vascular disease with balance

Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Aug 27, 2018

Vafaei A, et al. - In older adults with peripheral vascular disease (PVD) or diabetes mellitus, researchers ascertained if visual acuity was related to balance. Findings suggested an interaction of visual acuity and PVD in their relationship with balance. High risk of mobility difficulties may be seen in people with poor vision and PVD. Authors noted almost double the odds of being unable to stand in those who reported PVD. Results demonstrated the statistically significant interaction between visual acuity and PVD.
