Instrumental head impulse test changes after intratympanic gentamicin for unilateral definite Meniere’s disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Marques PS, et al. - The aim of this study was to evaluate the extent of intratympanic gentamicin (ITG) interference with the vestibular-ocular reflex (VOR) parameters on instrumental head impulse test (HIT), either with scleral search coil or video head impulse test. Eventually, researchers intended to foresee the control of vertigo crisis in unilateral intractable Meniere’s disease (MD). In evaluating the SCC function following the ITG for intractable MD, the instrumental HIT was found to be effective. In the 3 SCC, the vestibular-ocular reflex (VOR) gain changes in the direction of the treated ear were clearly registered. The control of vertigo crisis was foreseen by the increased reduction of the VOR gain in the horizontal and anterior SCC.
