Initial fluid resuscitation following adjusted body weight dosing is associated with improved mortality in obese patients with suspected septic shock

Taylor SP, et al. – This study assessed fluid resuscitation strategies across BMI groups in order to define the optimal initial fluid resuscitation strategy for obese patients with septic shock. Findings suggested that in comparison to other weight–based dosing strategies, initial fluid resuscitation volume calculated by adjusted body weight (AdjBW) might improve outcomes for obese patients with suspected shock.
