Inhibitory motor dysfunction in Parkinson's disease subtypes

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Sep 30, 2017

Gong T, et al. - The differences of GABA levels between Parkinson's disease (PD) motor subtypes utilizing MEscher-GArwood Point Resolved Spectroscopy (MEGA-PRESS) are assessed in this study. Low basal ganglia (BG) GABA levels in PD patients, and differences between postural instability gait difficulty (PIGD)/tremor-dominant (TD) patients, propose that GABAergic dysfunction may play an imperative role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.
