Inherited susceptibility to miscarriage: A nested case-control study of 31,565 women from an intergenerational cohort
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Aug 26, 2019
Woolner MAF, et al. - Researchers examined whether a maternal history of miscarriage is associated with the risk of miscarriage in daughters. For this case-control study, they assessed mother-daughter pairs from the intergenerational cohort within the Aberdeen Maternity and Neonatal Databank, United Kingdom. The analysis revealed 11% greater odds of being born to mothers with a history of miscarriage for daughters who miscarried. Daughters with recurrent miscarriage (two or more) were also more frequently noted to be born to a mother with a history of miscarriage. Findings thereby suggest the possible inherited predisposition to miscarriage transmission from mothers to daughters.
