Stewart RJ, et al. - Antiviral prescribing among high-risk outpatients for 5 influenza seasons was described. Researchers also sought for factors that could influence prescribing. They noted that influenza antiviral medications were infrequently prescribed for high-risk outpatients with acute respiratory illness (ARI) who would benefit most. The earlier presentation was observed to be correlated with antiviral treatment, as was fever, although 25% of high-risk outpatients with influenza were afebrile.
