Increased serum leptin levels in new-onset, untreated female patients with coronary artery disease and positively associated with inflammatory markers
Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism Feb 02, 2018
Du Y, et al. - The authors aimed to assess gender differences between leptin and inflammatory markers in untreated patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD). In female patients, the serum leptin levels were higher. These levels were independently correlated with C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cell count (WBCC), and its subsets. Thereby findings suggested a potential interaction between leptin and inflammation in female CAD patients.
