Incidental detection of colorectal lesions by FDG PET/CT scans in melanoma patients

European Journal of Surgical Oncology Sep 22, 2017

Young CJ, et al. - This study was executed in order to identify the prevalence of colorectal incidentalomas (CIs) found on PET/CT scans in melanoma patients. Furthermore, it resolved to associate the PET/CT findings with the pathology found at colonoscopy and to determine which patients were referred for colonoscopy. It was deduced that the prevalence in melanoma patients was equivalent to that in the general cancer population. Patients undergoing colonoscopy reported better survival than those who did not.
