Incidence and risk factors of preoperative venous thromboembolism and pulmonary embolism in patients with ovarian cancer
Thrombosis Research Mar 12, 2020
Liang S, et al. - This study was undertaken to ascertain the incidence and predisposing factors of preoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE), especially pulmonary embolism (PE) in individuals with ovarian cancer. Between September 2013 and November 2016, experts conducted a retrospective study including a total of 387 individuals with primary ovarian cancer, whose preoperative workup included both ultrasonography of lower extremity vein and spiral computed tomography pulmonary angiogram. They applied SPSS 22 for statistical analyses. In individuals with ovarian cancer, preoperative VTE and PE are common events. The D-dimer level was found to be a beneficial parameter for diagnosing and evaluating preoperative VTE and PE.
