Incidence and risk factors of ocular hypertension following pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil injection
Ophthalmologica Jul 26, 2018
Jabbour E, et al. - Researchers assessed the risk factors for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with silicone oil injection (SOI). They noted that following silicone oil (SO) tamponade, IOP elevation was a common complication. Pseudophakia, high myopia, high preoperative IOP, and low-viscosity SO were the risk factors for ocular hypertension development. Higher incidences of ocular hypertension were seen in pseudophakia, high myopia, and high preoperative IOP, whereas a lower incidence was seen in diabetic patients.
