Incidence and predictors of early complications following primary and revision total ankle arthroplasty
Foot and Ankle Surgery Nov 14, 2018
Lai WC, et al. - Experts analyzed the data on patient demographics, comorbidities, and hospital length of stay to assess the incidence and preoperative risk factors for early adverse events (AEs) following primary and revision total ankle arthroplasty (TAA). Findings suggested an association of older age, higher BMI, and revision cases with a higher risk of AEs. For the entire cohort, the overall AE rate was 5.5%. Compared to primary TAA cases, AEs occurred more frequently for revision TAA. In multivariate analysis, independent risk factors for 30-day AEs were age, BMI, and revision TAA.
