Incidence and management of umbilical artery flow abnormalities during open fetal surgery

Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy Aug 25, 2017

Sinskey JL, et al. – A retrospective review is performed to depict the incidence of umbilical artery (UA) Doppler abnormalities amid open fetal surgery. The outcome of this study suggests absent or reversed end diastolic flow (AREDF) is a common phenomenon amid open myelomeningocele (MMC) repair. Anesthetic agent choice may impact this risk. Future studies of UA flow amid fetal surgery are needed to further assess the effect of intraoperative AREDF on fetal well–being.
