Implant treatment in immunosuppressed renal transplant patients: A prospective case-controlled study
Clinical Oral Implants Research Apr 19, 2019
Hernandez G, et al. - In this study, researchers examined data to evaluate the long-term results of implant therapy in a cohort of candidates with immunosuppressed renal transplant vs a matched control group. They noted the implant survival rate over 98% in both test and control groups (100% and 98.84%, respectively). They diagnosed peri-implant mucositis in 46.80% of the implants in the study group vs 48.80% in the control group. They reported similar wound healing and postoperative pain in both groups. They did not find the impact of pharmacological immunosuppression in renal transplant patients on implant outcomes despite the limitations of the study.
