Impact of treated and untreated traumatic dental injuries on oral health-related quality of life among 12-year-old schoolchildren in Amman
Dental Traumatology Mar 14, 2019
Rajab LD, et al. - A total of 1652 schoolchildren of age 12 years were evaluated to quantify the prevalence of traumatic dental injuries (TDI) and also to estimate the influence of treated/untreated TDI on the quality of life. They recorded 14.6%, the prevalence of TDI. They recorded a statistically significant impression of untreated TDI on all parts of CPQ11-14. They recorded difficulty in chewing as the single significant impact of treated TDI. They noted significantly greater influence in relation to the overall OHRQol, oral symptoms, the emotional and social well-being domains among kids with treated TDI vs those who had not suffered TDI. Overall, they found a negative impact on OHRQol untreated TDI when compared to the absence of or treated TDI among schoolchildren in Amman.
