Impact of thrombelastography in paediatric intensive care

Carter BG, et al. - Clinical effect of thrombelastography (TEG) results were examined in a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) population via measuring their ability to cause changes in a theoretical treatment plan and contribute to the understanding of haemostasis. Almost half the time, TEG results brought about changes in treatment plans, additionally, confirmed findings of standard tests and provided a better understanding of haemostasis, however, randomised controlled trials are required to determine the role and influence of TEG results on patient outcome.
